I read though the troubleshooting part of the instructions and didn't find an answer. I just happened to notice the *note on the front of the booklet that the phone and the volume in the app can not be set to mute or 0% or it won't respond. Sure enough, I change the volume on the app and turned off mute and the lights started working immediately.\n\nI'm not sure why that very important note wasn't added to the troubleshooting section of the booklet but it was easily overlooked on the front. What is the issue for those those who couldn't make it work had? More than likely the same one I had in the first 5 minutes of use: they downloaded the wrong app.\n\nWeirdly there are two apps by the same developer for the same brand. Both will show almost all the same controls and both feature the same light effects. However only one will work with the Holiday Brilliant Spectacular device.\n\nThe app you need to get is the one called \"Music Box- Holiday Brilliant\". If you download the other one audio will play but you won't be able to control the lights. Not sure if it was for a different device or an earlier prototype. \n\nThe only difference between the two is that the incorrect version doesn't have the \"Bluetooth status\" button like the manual
