I feel so much safer travelling with my swirl card because I know that if it got stolen, my bank details are secure. This app is a quick and useful way of checking your balance and topping it up. I’ve never been to a shop that doesn’t accept them. The fees are quite high especially as a student without a constant flow of income. With every purchase, a €0.75 charge is taken from your balance. This is minuscule when added onto larger purchases but I often want to just buy a drink or bag of sweets for €1 and it ends up almost double the price. There are also some account maintenance fees.
