The game is DEEP and has what I estimate to be 100+ hours worth of unique play. The developer (one guy I think) takes this game very seriously and is extremely interactive on his games wiki page. New "chapters" are being added all the time each with new maps, items, upgrades, enemies and quests. It reminds me a lot of Elder Scrolls as there are 9 or 10 classes each of which can join a guild and change into another 10 or so specialized classes. Each unique with strengths and weaknesses specializing in different combat skills. The graphics are simplistic but refreshing. There are plenty of ways to tweak the controls, difficulty and gameplay so no one should have issues there. I will say this however, navigation will at times become irritating. For example, there is no pinch to zoom when looking at the map which makes it tough to see what path to take or where locations are. Some Dungeons are HUGE and it just makes it tough to get scope. Also, the map will mark a dungeon with a purple dot but doesn't show any text so I hope your memory is good. The player does however have the ability to mark locations on the map with a short note. It could also be that I haven't received an in game map yet (if one exists). I'm sure the dev has heard this and I expect improvements in future updates. In all, my gripes are small potatoes compared to the entirety of the game itself. It's a no brainer, get this game and be prepared to lose all concept of time. The game took a little time to get used to and at first it was easy to feel lost with no clear direction to go in to advance story lines or quests. I’ll admit that I stopped playing for a bit because it was rather frustrating. However once you get past that learning curve the game really does take off with so much to do. The character building is detailed and very customizable which makes you feel like you’re in control of how you want to play rather than simply getting more powerful with each new level gained. The leveling of your character ties directly into the battle mechanics as well so even fighting can feel different if you focus on different skills with a new party. Also the fact that there are no in-app purchases or ads is amazing. Nothing kills a game for me like a pop up every so often interrupting the gameplay. But they were right. It absolutely feels like the early Ultimas. The world is open and huge, with towns and shops, all kinds of wilderness, and plenty of dungeons to crawl. The amount of classes, abilities, spells, items, weapons, quests, NPCs, and enemies is absurd for a small developer. It’s as good as any of the old games it’s modeled on, but better, because of all the quality of life features. You can save at any time, you can control every action your six party members perform, or you can set them to auto battle and just watch. You can set how each character will make decisions in auto combat, or use their defaults. You can control some characters with others on auto. And you can change any of these factors at any time during a fight. You can play however you want to play, and it will work! The game won’t let you get lost, either. Whatever you might forget how to do, the game will unobtrusively coach or remind you. What small developer cares enough about its players to program in stuff like that? This one does. \n\nI do have a couple of quibbles. Sometimes you can run around a little TOO long before finding something you can interact with. The dungeons tend to be labyrinthine with few loops and no minimap, so it can be tedious to get back out of them. There is a map, a good one! But it can’t be on screen while you’re moving, and toggling back and forth feels like a chore. Also I don’t like black “fog of war” that moves around with you and blocks parts of the screen, even if you turn off the day/night cycle, which if left on makes this even worse.\n\nBut the pros are literally everything else 😍 And the game has a generous range of difficulty settings to make it just the right challenge for you. If like me you miss the old open world dungeon crawlers and feel like none of the modern mobile versions do them justice, your search is over. Download this now, have a great time and support this deserving developer.
